Our Winery
Pago de Carraovejas is the origen of Alma Carraovejas, the brand that joins several singular viticulture projects, such us Ossian, in Nieva; Milsetentayseis, in Fuentenebro; or Viña Meín-Emilio Rojo, in Leiro; besides Pago de Carraovejas, in Peñafiel. Alma Carraovejas also includes a very special gastronomic project, Ambivium that try to mix wine and gastronomy in the experiences which is offered.
In reference to the origins of Pago de Carraovejas, we have to come back to 1991. This is the year of its first harvest; just 70,000 kilos produced by the first 25 hectares planted. In the following years, the vines and winery expanded in successive extensions through a continuous but steady and careful process of growth, always governed by the principle of not losing one iota of quality. They now currently cover an area of 230 hectares.
The winery has now more than 14,000 square meters of modern facilities where tradition and creative innovation go hand in hand with state of the art technology and a deeply ingrained respect for naturalprocesses. Our never-ending search for ongoing improvement is channeled investing in different research, development, sustainable and innovation projects.
